Seatsy

Airline seat exchange, made simple.

Seatsy is a platform that lets passengers find and exchange seats with other passengers. We took an AI-generated MVP that proved the idea and turned it into a polished, production-ready web and mobile product designed around real passenger workflows.

The product

A better way to exchange airline seats

Seatsy is a platform built around a simple idea: sometimes the seat you have isn't the seat you actually want. A passenger may prefer a window seat, need an aisle seat for more space, or simply want to sit closer to someone they are travelling with. Seatsy creates a structured way for passengers to discover and exchange seats with other travellers instead of relying on chance or asking around on the flight.

The product brings that entire experience into one place. Users can add their flight and current seat, define the type of seat they would prefer, discover relevant exchange opportunities, review what another passenger is offering, and decide whether to accept or decline the request.

While the concept itself is straightforward, the UX behind it is not. Seatsy is essentially a two-sided interaction where every decision depends on context from another passenger. Users need to understand their own seat, the requested seat, the person making the offer, the reason for the exchange, and what happens after they take action.

Our focus was to make all of that information understandable without making the product feel complicated. Every part of the experience was designed around helping users quickly understand what they have, what they can get, and what they need to do next.

The starting point

From AI-generated MVP to something people could actually use

The original MVP was useful for proving the concept, but it was still an early AI-generated product. The screens demonstrated the idea without fully solving the product experience.

The workflows needed more structure. Important states were missing, interactions weren't fully connected, and the experience needed to work consistently across web and mobile.

Instead of simply redesigning the screens, we rebuilt the experience around how a passenger would actually discover, evaluate, and complete a seat exchange.

The transformation

Turning screens into a complete product

We connected the entire journey from adding a flight to completing an exchange.

The experience now gives users clear context at every step: the seat they have, the seat they want, the available opportunity, the person involved, and what happens when they accept or decline.

We also established the underlying design system and responsive experience so the product behaves consistently instead of feeling like a collection of separately generated screens.

  • Flight details form with seat number and preferred seat location
  • Seat swap request card with Accept and Decline
  • Points balance next to the passenger profile

The experience

Designed for clarity, trust, and real-world use

Because Seatsy connects two passengers, every exchange needs to feel transparent. Users need to understand exactly what they're offering, what they're receiving, and the current state of their request.

We designed the dashboard, swap discovery, requests, status states, and mobile experience around that principle. The result is an interface that makes a new type of interaction feel familiar and predictable.

The result

From an AI-generated concept to a production-ready product

Seatsy evolved from a quick MVP into a complete product experience that can support real users across web and mobile.

The finished product connects flight management, seat preferences, exchange discovery, requests, and swap decisions into one consistent journey.

More importantly, the product moved beyond simply looking like a finished application. It gained the structure, interaction patterns, responsive experience, and design system needed to continue growing.
